What is the role of an art teacher in school?

Often asked for leave, art classes are frequently occupied for no reason, meanwhile, art teachers also have leisure time to enjoy flowers and painting, occasionally attending classes, resulting in a low sense of presence...

BUT!

At Indus, art teachers have a strong presence, especially Teacher Yang Longzhi. Of course, Teacher Yang's presence is also 'brushed' out!?

Yes, brushing classes!

Four years ago, Teacher Yang Longzhi, who traveled from the northwest to the central plains, first encountered Indus, carrying a dream of art education, dedicated to cultivating students' artistic literacy. The dream is like a seed, taking root and sprouting in the soil of Indus, everything is just right.

At Indus, Teacher Yang Longzhi has been teaching traditional Chinese painting, calligraphy, and basic art classes for grades 1-6, dominating the screen with 12 art classes each week. In four years, Teacher Yang has switched seamlessly between different classes, becoming a beloved teacher with many fans at the school.

Wandering the world with a sword, skillfully painting.

Born in Lanzhou, Gansu, Teacher Yang carries the rugged temperament of the northwest, with a carefree spirit of wandering the world with a sword, while also enjoying the tranquility of brush, ink, paper, and inkstone. Amidst the rugged masculinity, there is a gentle delicacy, truly a heart with a fierce tiger, delicately sniffing roses.

Teacher Yang loves traditional Chinese painting and, through unremitting efforts, achieved excellent results in the college entrance examination, gaining admission to a well-known university in Sichuan - the Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts.

The traditional Chinese painting department is a precious existence in the Academy of Fine Arts. During his study years, Teacher Yang devoted himself to learning, influenced by various masters of traditional Chinese painting at the academy, striving to absorb nutrients in the aspects of his beloved figures and landscapes.

Teacher Yang admires the aloofness of Ba Da Shan Ren, the vigor of Chen Lao Lian, the clarity of Ren Bo Nian, and the richness of Huang Bin Hong... He is well-versed in the great masters of traditional Chinese painting and speaks about it with great insight.

It is a very enjoyable thing to lead children in painting.

After graduation, Teacher Yang chose to pursue his love for traditional Chinese painting to the end, turning his hobby into a career, dedicating himself to art education.

Teacher Yang teaches traditional Chinese painting, calligraphy, and basic art classes for grades 1-6 at Indus. Just like Matisse's inspiration: painting does not need rules. Teacher Yang also adheres to this principle.

In the classroom, Teacher Yang respects every child, cherishes their perspectives, protects the original ecology, and allows their boundless imagination to flourish. This way, children's thinking is free, and every child has creative space.

Words from Teacher Yang.

"Children paint without purpose; they rely on their temperament and inspiration, painting for joy, for release, for fun, and for curiosity. Therefore, children's paintings are pure and lovely, carefree and natural, to the extent that many masters bend down to learn from children."

Teacher Yang is experienced and can adapt to the situations of students of different ages, teaching according to their needs, allowing children to unleash their imagination and creativity during the painting process, while also promoting the unique painting art of China, forming a distinctive painting teaching style.

What is the purpose of art education?

The famous German educator Pestalozzi once said:"The art of education lies not in imparting knowledge and skills, but in inspiring, awakening, and encouraging."Art education is even more so.

Long after, when you take out your past paintings, they still clearly display your thoughts at that time, and the later you, perhaps have surpassed or changed, but when you look back, you will feel that your traces are so clear, and this will be a treasure more meaningful than money.

In addition, utilizing fragmented time at work, Teacher Yang began creating the comic series 'Gaga Turtle', sometimes also trying character portrait comics.

The 'Gaga Turtle' comic works encompass Teacher Yang'sreflections on the IB educational philosophy.The twelve positive attitudes, ten cultivation goals, and five major skills advocated by IB education are presented in a relaxed and interesting way under Teacher Yang's brush; at the same time,there are also reflections and insights on life.

Artists are all kinds of nobles; no matter how the world changes, they have their own world.

With a heart full of literature and ink, and a belly full of poetry and books, this is the combination of temperament and strength that is Teacher Yang;

  educating with a father's heart, loving children with a mother's heart.This is Teacher Yang's educational philosophy;

  cherishing children's perspectives, protecting original ecological creation,is the principle that Teacher Yang adheres to.

Come and cheer for our idol teacher!
