Teacher Li Xing, you have been exposed!

Teacher's Style

Time: 2019-09-25

In 2015, the Indus International School was born with a fifteen-year integrated system, and Zhengzhou Sino-Australian School transformed into the Indus International High School. The kindergarten, primary school, and middle school under the IB educational philosophy became an important part of Indus International Education, and also became a rising star of Indus!

Four years ago, Teacher Li Xing came to Indus with aspirations, becoming an English teacher and homeroom teacher in the primary school. During these four years, she taught 1,080 engaging English classes and held 144 themed class meetings, watching 8 children advance to middle school while accompanying the current 23 children in their growth... Teacher Li Xing worked hard with Indus, witnessing its growth and transformation.

When you stay in one place for a long time, close your eyes, and every blade of grass, every tree, every brick, and every tile naturally appears in your mind. The vitality of spring, the brilliance of summer, the poetry of autumn, and the purity of winter, every snowflake's falling posture, the chirping of insects under the mist, and the dewdrops... your understanding of it runs deep in your bones.

Accompaniment is a long-lasting confession.

In 2015, Indus stood tall. At that time, many aspects were still being improved, and the life teachers had not yet arrived. Teacher Li Xing accompanied the children from their early morning rise to their bedtime; at that time, the children were not the focus of her life, but the only focus! At that time, Teacher Li Xing had already personally experienced the hardships and joys of raising children.

It seems like a daily repetition, but in fact, growth and change are quietly taking place...

The library is filled with more and more books, lights are turning on in the empty campus, and the little faces that have shed their baby fat are growing taller like willow branches... The campus is no longer empty; the children have transformed from innocent and cute to more understanding and sensible.

Now, a group of children she has personally nurtured have already entered middle school, and the younger siblings of the 'successors' have come to the Indus primary school. Because of this special bond, Teacher Li Xing often visits the dormitory to see them, and her relationship with the children has long surpassed that of teacher and student.

Growing up alongside her students is a very happy thing. Watching 8 children enter middle school and accompanying the current 23 children in their growth, flipping through the collected photos, she suddenly realizes that the children have grown up again, bringing a sense of comfort and melancholy of 'my child has just grown up'.

Who am I? Freely switching.

Education is a matter of conscience and also an art. One must have wise eyes and a heart, sufficient care and patience, to timely discover the subtle changes and abnormalities in children, and to help them solve problems in a timely manner, so that they can be accompanied for a longer time.

Teacher Li Xing actively communicates with parents to understand the children's learning background, living background, and personality traits, analyzing suitable educational and communication methods for the children, guiding them in a timely manner on issues during their growth, and helping them find the right channels to solve problems and express emotions.

Sometimes, educating children is very much like Da Yu controlling the floods; children have their natural growth patterns, and forcibly suppressing them may turn into a 'suspended river'. Once it erupts, it may cause explosive backlash; the suppressed nature will eventually burst forth.

Therefore, 'I must first become a child to better communicate with them and think as they think. After that, I am an adult, understanding their needs, standing at a higher perspective to provide timely care and guidance.'

Teacher Li Xing freely switches between being a teacher and a child; in class, she is a strict teacher who insists on principles, while after class, she interacts with the children like friends. She likes to give children direct care and love, allowing them to clearly feel loved.

Some say teachers are healing, healing children's sensitivity, fragility, inferiority, and ignorance, but sometimes, a child's smile heals the difficulties, retreat, and confusion in teaching work.

In the blink of an eye, Teacher Li Xing has accompanied the lovely children of Class 3A for three years, teaching them knowledge, how to be a person, how to handle and solve problems, and how to face and improve themselves. Every day, seeing their innocent smiles and small progress fills her heart with happiness.

Thinking deeply, yet still feeling insufficient.

'For the children, I have a clear conscience, doing my best to give them everything I can think of, transmitting knowledge to them while teaching them to manage their time and arrange it reasonably, which will benefit them for a lifetime.'

Students studying in boarding schools tend to be more independent and have more time for themselves. Learning and living must be orderly and efficient, and time management is a required course.

Teacher Li Xing often teaches children to distinguish between what is 'necessary to do' and 'what they want to do', cultivating their awareness of seizing the moment, helping them develop the habit of budgeting time for each task, and reflecting and summarizing to identify time-wasting activities, allowing children to learn to make choices.

Learning and interest, we take seriously.

As students, learning is essential, and this is also true in international schools; it is not only about better using English but also about helping children develop confidence, composure, and comprehensive development.

But all of this does not come easily. At Indus, spoken English and listening are taught by foreign teachers, while grammar knowledge is taught by Chinese teachers. Teacher Li Xing places great emphasis on the absorption and sublimation of grammar; when explaining a certain grammar point, she does not simply ask students to memorize it but encourages them to participate actively, relate it to life, and thus apply it flexibly, internalizing it as their own knowledge.

In addition, during extracurricular time, children choose liberal arts and club courses based on their interests and hobbies, and their fluent spoken language and confidence on stage are the result of accumulation over time.

Growth Archives: Home-School Co-education.

As a homeroom teacher, Teacher Li Xing must pay attention to all aspects of the children, not just their English learning. At the beginning of the semester, the school prepares a growth archive for each child, and Teacher Li Xing tells the children: 'This is your learner's archive for this semester; all materials related to learning during the semester will be placed in this file bag, and you are responsible for keeping it safe.'

Various assessment exercises and test sheets are specially dated and titled to facilitate students in categorizing and organizing them in chronological order. This not only benefits children's error reflection but also allows parents to systematically and thoroughly understand and feel their children's learning performance and gains during the previous stage when reviewing this archive, providing factual basis and materials for teachers and parents to communicate and discuss how to adjust and improve the child's current situation and future.

On the road of children's growth, home and school must work together to double the support for children's growth!

This is a simple, straightforward, optimistic, and empathetic teacher who is deeply loved by students. Behind this, Teacher Li Xing often reflects on herself and summarizes her progress.

"If I do well enough, the children and parents should be able to feel it,"

"I often have conversations with myself, asking whether I have paid attention to every child and whether I have given them all that I can,"

"The answer is, yes."

"Sometimes I wish time would stand still, allowing me to accompany them a little longer, just a little longer....."

All the persistence and accumulation over time will become valuable wealth for the children. I hope that on the path of learning and growth, parents and teachers are always present! Become witnesses to the children's growth!
