Henan's "M" shaped high-speed rail adds another line, allowing students to take the high-speed train to Zhengzhou Airport Economic Zone to attend prestigious schools.

On December 12, the "Zheng-Tai High-speed Railway" officially started operation! A clear "米" shaped railway network centered around Zhengzhou is gradually becoming a reality.

On December 13, the newly built intercity railway from Xinzheng Airport to Zhengzhou South Station (referred to as "Airport-South Intercity Railway") officially opened, marking the completion of the "米" core!

The successive opening of two railway lines marks the successful connection of Henan's "米" shaped high-speed rail in the northwest direction with the southwest and southeast directions, achieving seamless connection of Zhengzhou-Chongqing, Zhengzhou-Fuyang, and Zheng-Tai high-speed rail with Xinzheng Airport Station, maximizing the satisfaction of passengers' "zero transfer" travel needs along the line.

What high-speed rail lines make up the "Zheng-Mi"?

The "horizontal" (Zhengxi, Zhengxu high-speed rail) and "vertical" (Beijing-Guangzhou high-speed rail) of the "米" shaped high-speed rail centered on Zhengzhou have already taken shape.

The "slant" refers to the Zheng-Chongqing high-speed rail. It passes through Henan, Hubei, and Chongqing, with a maximum design speed of 350 kilometers per hour, of which the section from Chongqing to Wanzhou has been in operation since November 2016. The Zhengzhou to Xiangyang section opened on December 1, 2019, with a total length of 389 kilometers, starting from Zhengzhou East Station, heading southwest through Xuchang, Pingdingshan, and Nanyang, entering Hubei Province through Dengzhou, and finally reaching Xiangyang.

The "dot": Zhengzhou to Fuyang high-speed railway (hereinafter referred to as Zheng-Fu high-speed rail) opened for operation on December 1, 2019, ending the history of no high-speed rail in Zhoukou, adding a new rapid passage for interconnection between Henan and Anhui provinces, greatly accelerating poverty alleviation along the line.

The "point" refers to the Zheng-Tai railway. The Zheng-Jiao intercity railway has been completed and put into use, with the section from Jiaozuo to Taiyuan officially opening on December 12.

The "slant point" refers to the Zheng-Ji railway. The Zheng-Ji high-speed rail section from Zhengzhou to Puyang is under accelerated construction, expected to be completed and put into use in 2021.

Currently, 7 out of the 8 directions of the Zhengzhou "米" shaped high-speed rail hub have been opened, with the northeastern direction of Zheng-Ji high-speed rail in Henan planned to open in 2021, making Henan the first to complete the "米" shaped high-speed rail hub.

After the comprehensive completion of Henan's "米" shaped rapid railway network, it will effectively form a one-hour economic circle radiating to provincial cities, a two-hour economic circle efficiently connecting surrounding provincial capitals, and an eight-hour economic circle reaching major cities across the country. At the same time, it will deeply integrate into the national "eight horizontal and eight vertical" high-speed rail main corridor, constructing a development pattern centered on Zhengzhou that connects north and south, east and west, providing important support for the construction of a new development pattern of "dual circulation".

At the same time, to fully leverage the advantages of the Airport-South intercity railway, during the initial operation period until January 19, 2021, the China Railway Zhengzhou Group Co., Ltd. will add 7 high-speed train services on the Zheng-Chongqing, Zheng-Fuyang, and Zheng-Tai high-speed rail lines, with the train numbers as follows: Zhengzhou East - Nanyang East G9199, Nanyang East - Zhengzhou East G9200, Zhengzhou East - Zhoukou East G9209, Zhoukou East - Zhengzhou East G9210; Zhoukou East - Changzhi East G9982, Changzhi East - Zhoukou East G9983, Zhoukou East - Zhengzhou East G9984. All the above high-speed trains will stop at Xinzheng Airport Station, greatly facilitating passengers from Nanyang, Zhoukou, Changzhi, and other cities to transfer to flights in Zhengzhou, achieving "zero transfer" for air and rail. After January 20, 2021, the number of high-speed trains stopping at Xinzheng Airport Station will significantly increase, further facilitating passengers from various cities in Henan to transfer to flights in Zhengzhou.

The opening of the Airport-South intercity railway marks the successful connection of Henan's "米" shaped high-speed rail in the northwest direction with the southwest and southeast directions, further expanding the high-speed travel circle for passengers from Nanyang, Pingdingshan, Yuzhou, Zhoukou, Xihua, Yanling, Xuchang, Changzhi, Gaoping, Jincheng, Jiaozuo, Wuzhi, and other cities along the line, achieving a new mode of travel for passengers along the line with "air-rail interconnection", which is of great significance for promoting economic and social development along the line and supporting the implementation of the central region's rise development strategy.
